#footballdontcare // I have a confession to make. I’m part of that slim percentage of Americans that actually doesn’t enjoy football. Not gonna lie, I only watch the Super Bowl (sidenote: Super Bowl seriously needs to be dubbed a new American holiday. Have Super Bowl Sunday and have Monday off to recover. Am I right?!) for the food, commercials and halftime. So much more entertaining!
I’m also one of those people that appreciate music, art and sports live at a concert, show or game. I love how music, art and sports bring all walks of life together. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, your political views, religion: all three of those things bring people together in perfect unity. For sports, I’m pretty darn clueless, along with all those other girlfriends that pretend to know what’s going on (touchdown!?)
So for those clueless Bettys like myself, here is my football etiquette & fashion advice of what to wear to a game, bar or gathering.
Football 101: Game Plan for America’s favorite sport
For those gals that don’t’ know the rules of the game, here’s the breakdown:
- Composed of two teams with 11 players on each.
- The object of the game is to outscore your opponent.
- The team with control of the ball, the offense, moves the ball downfield by running or passing the ball. While that’s team that is attempting all that, the opposing team aims to stop their advance and take control of the ball themselves.
- Touchdown = 6 points
- Extra Point Conversion = 1 point
- Two-Point Conversion = 2 points
- Field Goal = 3 points
- Safety= 2 points
Best thing about football: BRUNCH
As you may or may not know, brunch is my favorite meal. (Check out my Brunch Ya Know? section) While fans are cheering and booing I’m downing unlimited Mimosas & Bloody Mary’s! Here are my picks for watching this season in Pacific Beach.
Tavern: Root for your team with unlimited Mimosa bar with different juices, fruit and even candy.
Duck Dive: Drink and dive into the beach after the game! Be careful with those $3 Bloody Mary’s…
PB Cantina: Close to the PB Garnet madness but not close enough, watch the game on several screens and some 2 for 1 Sunday funday beverages.
If you don’t own a jersey…
Jerseys are expensive and don’t make for the cutest outfit. I chose two comfy and cute looks to wear to a game, brunch at bar or hanging out at the house with pizza and a keg. How does non-football fan look fall fashionable?
First look is a team shirt, leggings & gray suede boots
Second look: red flannel hoodie, jeans and brown boots
