They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I 100% agree. Brunch is the best meal: rich, savory, filling and has the best cocktails! In Brunch Ya Know? I feature my favorite brunch spots in San Diego. Dig in & enjoy!
Tis the season every season at Season’s 52! I recently grabbed a bite, at the Season’s 52 Seaport Village Headquarters location, off of their new brunch menu. We kicked off brunch with refreshing mimosas, made with prosecco and freshly squeezed O.J.
Even though this was on the menu as a brunch entree, we started with the Smoked Salmon Flatbread Flatbread, crispbread, cold-smoked Kendall Brook salmon, capers, red onion and horseradish cream. Season’s 52 are known for their wine and flatbread pairings, but this one was similar to having a salmon lox breakfast which was amazing!
Next, I ordered a Shrubby Mary served with Crop Organic Tomato Vodka, house made tomato-celery shrub and a hint of sriracha for a kick! The Shrubby Mary sure helped to wash down the rest of brunch.
The Eggs Benedict is definitely different than your traditional. The S52 Eggs Benedict is made on a toasted brioche, topped off with mushrooms, wilted spinach pasture-raised poached eggs and a lite hollandaise drizzle. For unique egg dish, I had the Shakshuka with pastured-raised eggs baked to perfection in a sauce of seasonal veggies with sweet peppers, tomatoes, chorizo and (one of my favorite cheeses!) fetta. If you’re not feeling brunchy, I highly recommend the Slow Braised Beef tacos. You can’t go wrong with California style tacos made with braised beef, slaw, pickled red onion and guacamole.
